Interior design - Marseilia HAYAT ALEX PARK Competition, Alex, Egypt, 1st Prize, 2014
A spacious open layout allows easy flow of foot traffic and visibility to all the dining options. The overall design has an industrial-chic aesthetic with exposed ceiling ducts, polished concrete floors, and distressed elements like brick or tile accents. The seating area features a variety of formats - from long communal tables for groups to casual lounge areas with sofas and armchairs for more intimate dining. Lighting plays an important role with stylish pendant lights hanging above each table area and up-lighting along pillars or walls. Counter services line the perimeter where each kitchen offers a distinct globally-inspired cuisine - from quick-service burger joints to Asian noodle bars, taco trucks, pizzerias, and more. The counters utilize materials like stainless steel, tiled surfaces, and illuminated signage that draws the eye. Some have open kitchens that allow visibility to the culinary action. An accent wall or sculptural installation makes a bold statement, either featuring local artwork, a branded design, or even a living green wall of plants. Digital menu boards are positioned at each venue for easy ordering. The ambiance blends industrial lighting, rich color accents, geometric tiled floors and wood/metal accents throughout. Clever separation of spaces is achieved through half-walls, pillars, and even overhead trellises or hanging planters. Overall, it creates an open, dynamic dining environment that caters to diverse tastes while providing both energetic social hubs and pockets of privacy when desired within a very on-trend aesthetic.
