Interior Design - SUNLIGHT headquarter competition, 1st prize - Xanthi, Greece, 2003
The Sunlight Company's new global headquarters embodies their brand's commitment to sustainability and innovation through its forward-thinking design. The spacious double-height lobby makes an immediate impression with walls of floor-to-ceiling glazing that flood the space with natural light and frame views of the surrounding eco-conscious landscape. Anchoring the lobby is a showpiece living green wall system, cultivating a lush vertical garden that produces oxygen while providing a refreshing natural aesthetic. Underfoot, polished concrete floors are accented by inlaid brushed aluminum ribbons leading visitors toward the reception area. Suspended overhead, an installation of energy-efficient LED rectangular planes seemingly defies gravity. The open office plan maximizes daylight penetration via strategic WindRevealed glazing that wraps the building perimeter, while reducing solar gain through integrated louver systems. Workstations are clustered into neighborhoods defined by mobile planters and low partition walls with incorporated bench seating to encourage collaboration. A central towering atrium functions as the heart of the office, housing communal meeting areas and an architectural steel staircase with wood-clad treads that cantilevers through all floors. Energy-efficient smart lighting adjusts according to daylight conditions and occupancy sensors. Overall, the design cultivates a healthy, productive workplace embodying sustainability at its core - a tangible expression of Sunlight's mission.
