This is one of the most difficult projects especially to design its layout for the separation factor which is mandatory. The challenge was the available land from the Tanzania government for such a project comparing to its requirements. Tanzania is the most important port for Zambia which means that this border post has high traffic on the two ways with different types. Heavy trucks have a higher number. The engineering consultant group invited Dr. Wael Aboneama as its architecture consultant to travel to Tanzania to design this border post in Tanduma. A border checkpoint is a place, generally between two countries, where travelers or goods are inspected. Authorization often is required to enter a country through its borders. Access-controlled borders often have a limited number of checkpoints where they can be crossed without legal sanctions. Arrangements may be formed to allow or mandate less restrained crossings Land border checkpoints can be contrasted with the customs and immigration facilities at seaports, international airports, and other ports entry. The project is constructed, but Unfortunately without following the architecture design as drawings for less experience of contractors. Checkpoints generally serve two purposes: 1) To prevent entrance of individuals who are either undesirable (e.g., criminals or others who pose threats) or are simply unauthorized to enter. 2) To prevent entrance of goods that are illegal, subject to restriction or to collect tariffs.
